dancer.jpgHas your pillow ever doubled up as a guitar? Or your hand shower as a mike? Or, for that matter, your room as the city’s most happening dance club with only you present?

Sure, right? And did it all set you free, elevating you to another world where doing it is more important than how you doing it? Here’s a piece of advice: Let the pillow be a pillow, and go pick up a real guitar.

Or a set of drums, a flute or any other musical instrument you like. Or go buy a pair of dancing shoes. And sign up for classes. For learning to play a musical instrument, or dancing or crooning. Anywhere. Does not matter. As long as you know it is convenient enough for you to go there regularly. Out of the way, and you will have a zillion excuses to miss classes.

No teaching places around? Can’t afford it? Buy a self help guide. Take only a few classes if you want to, and let practice and picking up tips from here and there take you forward. Just keep at it.

musician.jpgWhat is not important is how you play, sing or dance. As long as you are doing it. You are not doing so for public appearances. You are doing it for yourself. For your entertainment. You are the performer. You are the audience.

If you have the confidence, go show your talents to your family, friends and at other social gatherings. You might be terrible. Those who love you will give you that grin or smile as if to say, “Hey, come on Presley, good job done.” They will be patient with you. But don’t get conscious.

Remember, you are at least making an attempt. Others are not even doing that. Better still, you might have an infectious effect: Others might join you. And before you know it, you will have a group of some very ‘bad singers, dancers and singers.’ Won’t get you a break as the opening act on the next Madonna tour, but you are relatively closer to that accomplishment than before you started.

Like the idea? Autograph please!!

Think about it.

It’s very important to have a dream and then believe the dream and then live the dream.
