Job Duties

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) manages the administrative and academic information technology resources for Norfolk State University. OIT empowers University students, faculty, and staff by providing quality information technology leadership, resources, services and support.

OIT has an opening for an Operations Manager. This role will be responsible for day-to-day OIT office operations, primarily through the development and oversight of office work-flows and the development and implementation of policies and procedures to facilitate organizational effectiveness and efficiency. The Operations Manager will assist the CIO and department heads with the creation of official correspondence to communicate outside of the organization and will be responsible for the development and oversight of several special programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage processes and procedures for back-office capabilities
  • Assist CIO with managing various grant programs including Title III
  • Work with OIT teams to assist CIO in reinforcing positive organizational morale and developing meaningful goals and associated metrics
  • Manage OIT financial accounts, tracking and overseeing expenditures
  • Supervise additional account manager(s)
  • Develop and maintain On-boarding and Off-boarding procedures for OIT
  • Develop and maintain the special program for training student technicians (Spartan Techs)
  • Provide over-sight for contractor acquisition and ensure that the various departments are aware of the responsibilities associated with managing contractors
  • Plan and organize conferences, retreats and other periodic events for OIT
  • Represent CIO at meetings as required

  • Undergraduate Degree (preferably Business or Management Information Systems)
