Position Title
1st Assistant Men's Cross Country Coach

Responsibilities
Provides instructional and administrative support to the head cross country coach.
1. Coaching/Teaching (55%)-Utilize sport specific field/court/trail coaching and teaching strategies/methods during game/practices to optimize season long success of sport/team.
2. Academic Monitoring (10%)-Work with the Student-Athlete Success Coordinator to assure eligibility status and appropriate academic progress of the student-athlete. Specific attention should be given to encouraging an athlete toward completion of graduation requirements.
3. Meet and Practice Management (10%)-With approval from the head coach, conduct and supervise all meets/practices/events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA.
4. Recruiting (15%)-With approval from the head coach, identify and secure high level student-athletes for sport participation and award appropriate scholarship amounts while abiding by all rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region XVI, MCCAC, and Jefferson College.
5. Promoting Sophomores (5%)-Recommend to 4-year college athletic coaches all Jefferson College student-athletes wishing to transfer. Emphasis should be placed on securing athletics scholarships for athletes wanting to continue their pursuit of an athletic and academic career.
6. Facility Care (5%)-Assist the head coach with care of fields/courts/trail for the assigned sport including preparation for intercollegiate contests. Make regular checks on condition of facilities and equipment before and after use while enforcing all rules and regulations of the college and the athletic department.
7. Conduct him/herself in a professional manner and be a positive role model for the student-athletes with whom he/she interacts on a daily basis.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications
1. Experience in playing or coaching the sport of volleyball at the collegiate level.
2. Outstanding interpersonal skills.
3. The ability to work as a member of a team within the athletic department.
4. Associate’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
