Our Communications Department is seeking a 3D Artist within our Multimedia Design Group! This group of creatives provides technical staff, Lab leaders, and our Lab engagement and public relations strategists with high-quality multimedia products.
In this role you will…
- Join an interdisciplinary design section of hardworking designers, illustrators, video producers, animators, and other creative staff members.
- Model, texture, and animate assets for a virtual interactive training program.
- Prioritize and lead multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.
- Build, modify, and render 3D assets for use in sponsor-level Operational Views (OV-1), scenarios, animations, videos, conceptual art, and visualizations.
- Advise technical investigators and leaders across the Laboratory on communications products.
- Work closely with your colleagues within a cross-functional communications organization to ensure on-schedule, seamless workflows and the highest-quality products.
- Ensure APL’s brand is consistent across all products.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…
- Can share a portfolio of work that demonstrates your artistic abilities.
- Have a bachelor's degree in 3D computer animation or a related field.
- Have 5+ years of professional experience that includes demonstrated experience with 3D modeling and animation.
- Have excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrate unquestionable integrity with a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff.
- Are proficient in Blender, Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Substance Painter, Unity Gaming Engine, and other 3D/design software on Mac and Windows platforms.
- Have a healthy respect for project management and file/folder organization.
- Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...
- Experience with E-on Vue crafting environments.
- Involvement in compositing, photo-manipulating/editing, or blending 3D with 2D images.
- Familiarity with Gluon Plastic, Sourcetree, Mattermost, and/or Jira.
- Additional security investigations or adjunctions (Counterintelligence Scope - CI, CI Poly, Full Scope/Lifestyle - FSP, FS, LS, Lifestyle Poly).
- Previous experience working with DoD and the U.S. military.
