Position Overview
The Account Technician at Menard Correctional Center is responsible for maintaining accounting records, posting cash receipts and restrictions to Individual in Custody Trust Fund accounts, and processing money vouchers for outside purchases. Menard Correctional Center is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve in the role. Job Responsibilities
- Maintains accounting records such as receiving tickets, Orders For Delivery (OFD), invoices, and committee vote sheets for the Employee Benefit Fund, Employee Commissary Fund, Individuals in Custody Commissary Fund and Consolidated Individuals in Custody Benefit Fund.
- Posts cash receipts to Individuals in Custody Trust Fund Accounts.
- Posts restrictions for court ordered fees from Federal, State, and County Clerks of the Circuit Courts in the Individuals in Custody Trust Fund account.
- Processes individuals in custody money vouchers for outside purchases.
- Researches and answers individuals in custody correspondence.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of college AND completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining accounting records.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience multitasking in a fast-paced office setting.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with the Microsoft Office suite or similar programs.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience operating a telephone in a customer service setting.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining inventory.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
