The Finance Data Specialist role will support the continued growth of an internally developed accounting tool. This role will compile, organize, analyze, and report information, which can be used to make business decisions. They will assist the Business in the implementation and support of accounting needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting and maintaining accounting system month end processes
  • Assist in implementing business customers onto the internal accounting system
  • Create documentation that explains processes and definitions surrounding a financial system
  • Troubleshoot problems on complex accounting data sets and use analytic skills to identify and interpret how issues impact the tool
  • Assist with action plans for issues encountered by accounting teams through their month end process, recommend and communicate corrective actions or changes, and report those requiring IT involvement
  • Discover, analyze, and clarify requirements for completeness
  • Participate in conversations with internal and accounting team to identify improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and assist on data governance strategies to support accounting standards
  • Assist in communicating changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements verbally or through written documentation to internal team members
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with, a range of general and specialized applications, used in the organization such as accounting tools and databases

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements
  • Ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare Revenue knowledge or experience
  • Knowledge of Accounting systems (PeopleSoft, Smartview, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Technical systems (Microsoft SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Communication skills to engage various audiences across the organization

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
