Full Job Description:

The Senior Accountant position will be a working position that also directs and oversees the financial activities of the multiple businesses that are a part of Jacob Family Enterprises, Inc. Our ideal candidate will have experience in a project based environment, preferably in construction (but not required.) As our portfolio of business spans across many kinds of construction, we are looking for someone who is comfortable stepping into a role that can assist us in maintaining the current financial responsibilities while helping us grow into our future as the Jacob Family. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare current financial reports and summaries as well as year-end financial statements to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
  • Income statements, balance sheets, P&L, governmental agency reports, etc.
  • Tax information preparation for CPA (and any other information requested by CPA)
• Create forecasts predicting future growth.
• Oversee the Accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions.
• Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
• Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses.
• Reviews planning processes and suggests improvements to current methods.
• Works with the President and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent management/Supervisory skills
• Ability to manage while also working in the position.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred. (Business administration, Accounting or Finance highly desired)
• Master’s degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance Preferred, but not required.
• Five plus years of experience in financial management preferred.
• Experience in project-based accounting such as construction or engineering preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
