Account Manager

Portland Hospital Service Corp (PHSC) is a cooperative healthcare laundry serving the linen needs of major hospitals in the Portland metro area.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-focused Account Manager. This position is responsible for directing the financial affairs of the organization with respect to financial planning, policies and procedures designed to mitigate risk, management and control of fiscal records, safeguarding of company assets, preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, tax authorities and overall best practice, and the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial communities by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Prepares accurate, timely and complete monthly financial statements and analyses on a monthly basis in accordance with GAAP, including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manages all cash flow functions and ensures proper appropriation of corporate funds; assists with preparation of budget and 3-5 year financial forecasts.
  • Coordinates the annual financial and pension audits and tax return preparation, serving as primary contact to the external audit and tax team; prepares all schedules and supporting documentation as required.
  • Maintains relationships with financial institutions, external audit and tax firm, retirement plans, and insurance brokers.
  • Manages the accuracy, productivity, and comprehensive system of internal controls over accounting transactions which includes, but is not limited to, the company’s general ledger, chart of accounts, accounts payable/receivable, inventories, capitalized assets, accruals, payroll, benefits, and all supporting documentation and reconciliations.
  • Maintains company assets, with principle focus on cash, capitalized assets, inventory, and supplies; overall responsibility for the fixed asset database, including asset tagging, tracking, disposals, physical inventory and depreciable methods / lives.
  • Ensures adherence to U.S. general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as applicable; implements financial and pension plan recommendations as provided by external auditors; prepares tax planning and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, property, and other taxing authorities.
  • Establishes, implements, and performs internal audit procedures to ensure accuracy of financial information, to minimize risk of misappropriating funds, to monitor adherence with financial policies and controls, and to provide an overall check and balance on financial and payroll operations.
  • Offers accounting and payroll training including ongoing support as needed; provides financial analyses, guidance, and recommendations to the General Manager, as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations; provides guidance in the areas of 401(k) plan administration, corporate insurance, and employment taxes.
  • Oversees accounting and fixed asset systems, currently Sage100 and Sage FAS, including updates, enhancements and reporting functionality; participates in implementation and ongoing maintenance of third party payroll and timekeeping software.
  • Assists General Manager with oversight of outsourced IS function, to include policies and procedures that address controlled user access, safeguarding and security of company data, systems and equipment, disaster recovery and periodic risk assessment.
  • Directly manages employees in the Accounting/Finance department.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ year(s) related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience working in financial management
  • 10+ year(s) related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience working in general accounting.
  • CPA certification or MBA a plus
  • Tech savvy with expertise using ERP systems, Excel and Microsoft Office products.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
