About This Role:
We are looking for a high-level Research and Development Specialist who will own several key responsibilities and processes within our organization. Their expertise and input will be considered in the initial support of marketing and innovation through R&D, procurement and into the manufacturing process as we develop new or improve upon existing products. They will research, plan, and implement new programs and protocols as they relate to the ingredients, quality, and efficacy of our experiential bath products.
The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment where they will be responsible to drive results through leveraging their strong technical and leadership skills. He/she will lead the research and development team in executing and delivering development of internal and externally manufacturing projects. This role will be challenged to build and implement processes to improve upon overall process and product quality. The R&D Specialist will report to the Director of Procurement with a strong connection into Operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for the formulation and specification development process for finished goods, including but not limited to:
- Formula development and finalization
- Bill of material creation
- Supporting specifications (vendor routing, component specifications, raw material certifications, product certifications)
- Collaborate with Lab Support Specialist in ingredient vetting, testing and formula development
- Lead and support special projects as needed in areas such as supply chain diversification, product optimization, packaging renovations, etc.
- Work cross functionally to develop new manufacturing and supplier partners
- Create and maintain GMP SOP’s
- Responsible for input to business case development
- Support operations in test batches and scale up processes
- Investigate opportunities to bring externally manufactured products in house
- Assist in the troubleshooting of product quality and manufacturing issues, both internal and external
- Work with contractors to create bilingual packaging and cosmetic notification numbers that meet the foreign country regulatory requirements
- Work with external partners on product safety & claims testing
- Support and coach internal quality and regulatory standards
- Work cross functionally with Marketing on ingredient and component innovation, knowledge, and artwork audits
- Monitor team metrics and objectives to ensure goals are met
- Document all phases of research and development
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Fluent in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Proficient across technical platforms
- Professional and personable with excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills necessary
- This role will interact with partners often and must be able to clearly communicate and demonstrate Pacha values
- Ability to drive efficiencies and improve on current processes
- Must be organized and able to juggle multiple timelines and projects concurrently
- This individual must have a keen mind for problem-solving
- Must be reliable and a self-starter
- Proven experience working in a high performing team environment to achieve team goals
Must Haves:
- Previous R&D experience
- Emphasis In Cosmetic Experience a Plus
- Proven experience working in a high performing team environment to achieve team goals
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
