Position Description

This opening is for an Administrative Assistant 3 within the Department of Transportation (NDOT), Information Technology Division, in Carson City NV. Administrative Assistants perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring. The selected candidate for this position will also be required to possess written and verbal communication skills and sharpened organizational and clerical skills; have patience and understanding while providing professional customer service to internal and external coworkers and vendors; possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training; and be flexible in performing job duties as assigned.


The position will serve as the HR Liaison for NDOT IT Division and assist with all onboarding and ongoing recruitments, attend Liaison meetings, and coordinate communication between the Division Chief and other administrative and professional staff within the department. Schedule interviews using Teams and Outlook. The selected candidate will also be responsible for purchasing, payroll, and account maintenance for the IT Division; travel arrangements for staff; and general office support. The Administrative Assistant III works independently to serve the needs of NDOT and the IT Division.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
