We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative and Research Associate. This position will provide a high level of clerical, administrative, and research-related coordination to the Rural Drug Addiction Research (RDAR) Center and the Minority Health Disparities Initiative (MHDI). This individual will manage the administrative office for both units and be responsible for the comprehensive management of daily business operations. This position will serve as a liaison to university functional offices (e.g., accounting, transportation, information technology, and departments). This individual will work closely with RDAR and MHDI staff to distribute communications, plan meetings, and manage calendars and invitations. This position will be responsible for the support of general MHDI planning and reporting. This individual will also assist in budget planning and the preparation of internal reports for the management of MHDI. Occasionally, this individual will assist with grant development and submissions and may also assist with the completion of special projects.
This individual may also perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of managing a dynamic office setting with experience in social science research, and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. This position allows for a hybrid work schedule and will require 40 hours per week, frequently between the hours of 8am to 5pm. Individuals must be able to work occasional nights and weekends for the completion of special activities.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Associates degree or 2 years of work experience in a related field. Previous experience in administration, office management, research project assistance, and/or equivalent. The person in this position must possess an ability to work effectively across a diverse team and have exceptional communication skills, including verbal and in writing. This person must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task across a range of assignments. Must have experience managing a dynamic office setting and/or experience with social science research. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and previous experience in project administration, survey research, grant and/or budget coordination, grant pre- and/or post-awards supports, research compliance, marketing and/or communications, or process improvement is preferred. Previous experience working in a higher education setting is desired. A demonstrated ability to maintain and create tracking systems for record keeping is preferred. A track record of team-building and creative problem-solving related to administrative and/or research operations is desired. Intermediate knowledge of grant management software (e.g., NUGrant, NURamp, eRA Commons), budget and tracking software (e.g., SAP, iLab), project management software (e.g., Basecamp, Planner), grant submission software (e.g., ASSIST, Grants.gov), event management software (e.g., Zoom, WebEx), and/or similar platforms is preferred.
