Position Summary: Legal Aid seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant to work in the Durham Office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income clients in Durham, Caswell, Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance, and Warren counties. The selected applicant will be trained in and handle a broad variety of administrative tasks.
Job Description: The Administrative Assistant will:
- Report to the Office Manager and Managing Attorney.
- Work closely with the officer manager to help carry out the office’s day-to-day operations.
- Help create and maintain systems and processes to ensure a smooth workflow, responsiveness, and efficiency within the office.
- Assist with organizing and coordinating outreach and external relations efforts.
- Assist with the management of various boards and councils pertaining to the Durham office.
- Assist with scheduling for meetings, travel, conferences, events, and presentations.
- Assist with preparing documents, presentations and other materials needed for meetings, travel, and events.
- Assist with technical assistance needed to maintain a working environment.
- Travel to the seven county areas and/or statewide when needed.
- Assist with completion of reports.

Salary and Employee Benefits: The salary range for this role is competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate’s years of service, competencies, and experience. Legal Aid of North Carolina provides excellent health, retirement, disability, and leave benefits. Employee medical, vision, dental, and life insurance premiums are covered at 100% by the employer. Discretionary 401(k) contributions. Paid leave includes 1.75 days per month (21 leave days in the first two years; 30 days in subsequent years), 12 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, and other paid leave.
