  • PURPOSE OF JOB: Provides seamless registration/reception/scheduling services at the Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital. Acts as a resource to and Liaison between infusion services and referring physicians and office staff.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides excellent customer service by obtaining accurate information in a

confidential and respectful manner.

  • Accurately registers patients in Meditech software system.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills in all interactions with internal and external customers including patients, physicians, nurses and support staff.

  • Actively participates in and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.

  • JOB CRITERIA AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Accurately registers/pre-registers patients for services according to established policies and procedures.

  • Obtains appropriate insurance authorization according to established policies and procedures.

Treatment documentation forms from the ordering physician

  • Enters ICD-10 coding from physician script according to established policies and procedures.

  • Communicates insurance benefits and financial responsibility to patients.

  • Collects and verifies comprehensive data set and completes an accurate registration.

  • Ensures that all required pre-treatment documentation is obtained to facilitate accurate coding and ensure reimbursement.

  • Verifies accuracy of patient information and obtains required patient verification signature.

  • Utilizes skills to organize and prioritize tasks in an environment with multiple internal and external stimuli and demands.

  • Accurately registers patients in Meditech software system.

  • Collaborates with infusion nurses and referring physicians and office staff to schedule recurring appointment to ensure adherence to treatment protocols.

  • Schedules patients in Meditech according patient needs while recognizing department staffing patterns to minimize wait time.

  • Print patient labels and/or wristbands and attach to all appropriate medical record (chart) forms, evaluate for accuracy of information contained on patient label and wristband.

  • Demonstrates ability to utilize computer for interdepartmental communication

and department specific needs, to include:

  • Order entry
  • Inquiries and data retrieval
  • word processing

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills in all interactions with internal and external customers including patients, physicians, nurses and support staff.

  • Answers phones, provides respectful assistance, schedules appointments and /or transfers calls as required to appropriate staff.

  • Assists with obtaining physician orders, medical records, and/or reports as needed.

  • Assists with lab order entry to facilitate lab operations and flow.

  • Actively participates in and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities to enhance department operations, improve patient satisfaction, and to achieve excellence in patient care.
