Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Admissions Coach. This is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to prospective students and applicants. The Admissions Coach provides high quality service allowing prospective students to successfully complete the college onboarding process. The Admissions Coach will embrace a holistic model of care and use the case management approach to new student onboarding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Admissions Coach. This is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to prospective students and applicants. The Admissions Coach provides high quality service allowing prospective students to successfully complete the college onboarding process. The Admissions Coach will embrace a holistic model of care and use the case management approach to new student onboarding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a new student – decreasing fragmentation of services and providing quality care across a continuum of enrollment requirements
- Ensure prospective students are engaged from the first point of contact through registration
- Provide guidance, and direction for prospective and new students and support them from the moment of first inquiry, decreasing the length of time spent from being interested in college to registered for college
- Monitor prospective student and applicant progress throughout the enrollment process, responding to all questions/inquiries in various modes of communication, providing information about Germanna Community College career and educational pathways and the enrollment process
- Collaborate with colleagues across the college to remediate barriers to prospective student enrollment, with the goal of enrolling a prospect within 24-48 hours of first inquiry
- Connect prospective students with subject matter experts to allow for seamless onboarding
- Receive extensive training in the Culture of Care prior to meeting with students, a toolkit for on-the-job reference, and required ongoing professional development throughout the year

- Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education and work experience
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Ability to analyze and make sound, informed, and well considered recommendations on complex issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, typing, web browsers
- Extensive customer service experience with an ability to handle stressful situations
- Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Experience using a Student Information System
- Understanding of academic and workforce programs
- Experience working with students in a higher education setting
- Knowledge of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the financial aid application process
