Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and Museum is a non-profit organization. Our museums house vintage aircraft and vehicles. Open to the public in May, we offer biplane rides and we have weekend airshows from June to October.

The Air Show and Events Manager is responsible for the organizational/production aspects of Aerodrome Air Shows and Events, airfield operations, and reports to the Director of Operations. He or she coordinates with the Chief Pilot and the Air Boss to assure safe, efficient, educational and entertaining air shows. He or she is responsible for staffing, staff scheduling, volunteer recruiting and coordination, oversees Admissions Gift Shop and Biplane Rides Booths-including their financial operations, and other appropriate activities as approved and assigned by the Board. During the air show season (May-October) the position requires 24 hours per week. During the remainder of the year the position requires approximately 8 hours per week. Primary working days during the air show season are Friday through Monday with occasional evening hours during special events.
Qualifications
The Air Shows and Events Manager will have a demonstrated background in organizing, producing, and executing events. Excellent interpersonal skills to work transparently with a wide variety of diverse constituencies are required. The position demands exceptional organizational ability, flexibility in execution, the ability to communicate effectively, and a background in basic financial operations. It is essential that the Air Show and Events Manager have demonstrated IT skills, including: word processing, spreadsheets, and updating websites and social media platforms. While an air show specific background is not required, an interest in aviation history and education is highly desired.
Salary Range: $18-22/hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Key Functional and Relational Responsibilities
With the Board of Trustees:
· Provides liaison between the Board, air show staff, and operations.
· Provides regular reports regarding air show and events operations, including monthly and special reports as requested.
With Staff and Volunteers:
· Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises air show staff including: ground crew and performers, the fashion show, musicians, EMTs, rides and admission booth, parking lot, and security, pyro, and others, not including pilots.
· Supervises, collects, reviews, and approves timesheets for air show staff including Admission and Rides Booths. Completes, coordinates, and confirms pilot pay sheets with Air Boss.
· Works with the Director in maintaining the airfield and Museum facilities, buildings, and grounds.
With the General Public:
· Changes voicemail, website, and social media messages as related to air shows, especially weather cancellations.
· Handles group sales and formal tours in coordination with the Office Manager.
With Business Functions:
· Coordinates financial functions for the air shows, admissions, biplane rides, and special events with the Office Manager, including all aspects of air show income.
With Events:
· Coordinates with the Gala committee, Director, and Office manager in producing the Gala.
· Coordinates and produces recurring events such as Kids Fly, Mid-Hudson RC Society (including fundraising dinner), the various fly in and car days, and the fall festivals.
· Develops and executes new events in coordination with the Director.
Performance Review
The Air Show and Events Manager participates in an evaluation, coordinated by the Air Show and Events Manager and including a self-evaluation, at the end of the first six months of employment and annually, thereafter. The purpose of the evaluation is to determine strengths, areas of possible improvement and to provide a basis for continued employment, promotion and increases in salary.
