The Future Sensor & Software Solutions (FS3) Department supports the development of new capabilities for existing radar systems as well as development of Next-Generation Radar Systems for the nation’s warfighters.
Job Description:
This position is for a Chief Engineer who will work closely with program management to lead the design, development, integration, and test efforts and be responsible for the overall technical integrity, leadership and engineering execution across an Airborne Radar Program. This is a high-pressure position that interfaces with the customer, program office and the technical leaders on the program. It requires a high degree of radar systems technical competency and discipline to ensure compliance to system requirements and technical decision tradeoffs. Applicants must be self-motivated, detail oriented, with a demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program through strong written and verbal communication skills. This position is on-site only.
The activities and requirements in this job include:
- Provide technical leadership in radar systems development, integration, test, and producibility. Reviews/Approves performance analyses, provides technical coordination with SW and HW IPTs. Program ERB and CCB chair. Tailor internal and external design review criteria, lead internal and external design reviews, approve action item closures.
- Leadership over: requirement flowdown, trade studies, proposal efforts, vendor/supplier management, resource planning (staffing and facilities), transition to production, and performance/data analysis to ensure system compliance.
- Identification and resolution of production and technical issues, develop roadmaps to pursue and expand business growth. Support System, Software, Test Equipment requirement generation. Oversee system testing, test reporting, test procedures and sell-off reports.
- Participate in quarterly program EAC reviews and package approval. Customer and/or program technical review presentations. Provide task progress status updates. Daily contact with customer, working groups, contractors, and Raytheon personnel necessary to achieve program milestones
- Coordinate with functional management to identify key personnel needed to staff the program. Input staffing estimates into tool.
- Technical POC for engineering issues related to Cost and Schedule, Risk mitigation, and Opportunity capture. The CE ensures that technical issues are understood, addressed immediately, and technical solutions/corrective actions are implemented expeditiously.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 12 years work related experience. Existing DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance and SSBI/Special Access Required (SAP/SAR) clearance
- Experience with Radar mode/algorithm design. Strong understanding of Digital Signal Processing concepts. Proven technical competence in a complex system development environment with a solid understanding of test methodologies, system architecture(s) and design/trade studies.
- Experience decomposing customer needs into specifications for system performance, interfaces, I&T, and V&V requirements for protected and hardened systems. Very strong organization, coordination, planning and teaming skills
- Knowledgeable in systems engineering, systems architecture and IV&V. Ability to work in a high paced, high demand development and production environment. Experience with AESA Radar system design, mode development, integration, test, verification and validation, troubleshooting, RCCA, FRACAS
- Experience with lab processes, hardware testing, hardware module/unit/system Qualification and Test, production, and quality processes. Experience originating Systems Test procedures for I&T, V&V; and unit/module procedures. Experienced at leading hardware, and software integration and system verification efforts.

The salary range for this role is 152,000 USD - 304,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
