Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Analyst, Veterans Financial Services performs analytical duties characterized by examination of components and determination of relationships, requiring the conceptual analysis and synthesis of information and formulation of recommendations. Responds to, researches and resolves issues that are escalated from the campus and Contact Center staff. This position provides quality control and compliance support by processing, reviewing, analyzing, auditing and correcting data. Remains abreast of changing laws and ensures System-wide compliance with federal and state requirements. Within Veterans' Affairs, specific job duties may include but are not limited to; serving as a certifying official to authorize GI Bill payments and to advise campuses and students on VA educational benefits; reviewing student degree plans, test scores, and transcripts in order to ensure compliance with VA regulations; assisting with reporting as well as preparing for annual audits; coordinating responsibility for benefits approvals. May oversee the work of student employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Audit certified veteran files to ensure compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations, including federal, state, local, and LSC, etc.
Perform VA audits to review student programs of study and credit hour certification to assure compliance with established requirements
Document and prepare data and student records for reporting purposes; Review certified records for quality control to ensure eligibility criteria are met
Process, verify, analyze, and evaluate data and student records to determine eligibility for a variety of military affiliated benefit programs to include scholarships.
Certify program plans of students within strict due date guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable United States Department of Veterans Affairs and LSC policies
Work with and adheres to guidelines set forth by the Texas Veterans Commission and United States Department of Veteran Affairs for approval for various benefits and college catalog information.
Review and analyze a variety of data, information, and reports; make calculations to determine appropriate tuition and fees along with verification of BAH (Basic Housing Allowance, ensuring compliance is continuously maintained
Perform various technical duties-verify, analyze, collect and evaluate records rejected by the VA-ONCE
Work with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to determine benefit eligibility and act as an advocate for veterans
Review, interpret, and understand various federal categories and documents presented to determine eligibility to include chapter benefits for 30, 31 33, 35, 1606, 1607, vocational rehabilitation, and Hazlewood for veterans, veterans spouses, and veteran dependents
Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with Veterans
Salary
Hiring salary range is $40,070 - $46,081.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
