Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will be responsible for the acquisition and preparation of anesthesia equipment and supplies, the performance and collection of routine quality control functions, clerical duties related to anesthesia care, basic patient care such as transporting, first line maintenance and servicing, and inventory control.

• You will acquire and prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies for each surgical case, as well as identify and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment
• You will assist with arterial line, Swan Ganz, and I.V. insertion and maintenance
• You will set up anesthesia machines and monitors in surgery and other areas
• You will clean and decontaminate equipment used in the anesthetic care of patients
• You will perform point of care procedures and document required information
• You will perform clerical duties such as chart review, first line equipment maintenance and servicing, changing soda lime and opening canisters to air, emptying sharps and glass bottle containers, organizing the supply room, and stocking anesthesia carts and cupboards

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

• 6 months continuous experience in healthcare – preferred

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Completion of a hospital-based Anesthesia Technician training program or a 2 year Associate Degree program – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy
