Applications Programmer Analyst Entry Job at Pueblo County, CO
Provides software development and analysis services. Under direct supervision, modifies software systems from detailed specifications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains systems. Receives formal training and on-the-job instruction in conjunction with a progression of increasingly more difficult work assignments involving flow charting, coding, debugging, and documentation of systems. Carries out work assignments designed to prepare the developer for promotion to the next level of application development.

- New development programming and testing for requested and designated enhancements.
- Travels to on-site locations for system set-up, training or maintenance as required.
- Performs systems analysis studies and develops system specifications.
- Analyzes user operations; develops system specifications; codes and tests programs.
- Writes and tests computer programs.
- Prepares technical and user documentation.
- Trains user staff in operation of systems and provides user support; troubleshoots and resolves problems.
- Coordinates system development efforts with user staff and other County units.
- Determines technical training needs and/or receives training requests from employees.
- Prepares class materials, schedules classes and either conducts training or arranges for instructors.
- Monitors and reports on training budget; evaluates and reports on effectiveness of computer training.
- Provides software support to County departments.
- Researches and evaluates new software products.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with an emphasis in applications development preferred
One year coursework in C# or Java, HTML, JavaScript, and systems analysis preferred
Note: Any acceptable combination of related education, training, and experience may be a considerable substitution
EXPERIENCE:Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in computer programming required
