What You’ll Do:

This position is intended to entail duties which are surplus or extraneous to positions currently existing in the District's production operation while providing an opportunity for an individual to become familiar with the operation and train into a more skilled position in accordance with Apprenticeship Training program requirements and guidleines. The individual will be responsible initially and primarily for performing many functions of a Conveyorman. The individual, according to the current estimate of the operation's longer-range needs, will be trained, as practicable, in plant repair.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. QUALITY CONTROL: Continuously inspects raw aggregate being conveyed from pit for foreign organic material, such as weeds and wood, and for foreign mineral material such as scrap metal and plastic, throughout shift. Removes foreign materials from aggregate being conveyed as necessary.

2. HOUSEKEEPING: Shovels and sweeps spilled aggregate from underneath and on top of conveyors, crushers, and plant throughout shift as necessary.

3. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: Cleans and lubricates conveyor systems as necessary or scheduled. Performs minor repairs to conveyor systems such as changing rollers, belts, and pulleys as necessary. Shuts down conveyor system as directed, in emergency, or as otherwise necessary. May start up conveyor system. Continuously inspects conveyor systems for items needing maintenance or repair throughout shift.

4. OTHER: Trains in duties of other classifications with emphasis on plant repair. Fills in for absent or vacationing employees. Performs other duties as assigned by Foreman or Production Manager.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Sufficient to understand instructions and hazard warnings labeled on tools and equipment or posted throughout the facility.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Conveyorman experience preferred.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Basic mechanical skills minimum with aptitude and desire to become Plant Repairman at end of apprenticeship. Ability to operate any production equipment preferred.
