Schneider Electric is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Assembly Process Co-op in Cedar Rapids, IA for Fall 2023 to support of process development in the Schneider Electric Energy Management, Home and Distribution division. The qualified candidate will be working closely with specialists to support full and semi-automated assembly processes for new product introduction with a systematic approached to qualification and transfer to operations. The position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and reports to Industrialization Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina.
What will you do?
- Evaluate and validate product design alternatives to create optimum process designs by applying knowledge of product design, assembly, fixturing and materials.
- Work hands on during prototype builds to assess the validity of the design concepts
- Create detailed capacity analysis studies
- Comparison of manual, semi-auto and fully automated solutions
- Assist in definition of the material flow and handling used to supply the process
- Plan and establish the sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization of resources (machine and human). Experience with line balancing techniques.
- Generate quote comparisons based on cost, lead time and technical feasibility
- Participate in PFMEA, process control plans, and Poka-yoke and Jidoka solutions
- Develop standardized work instructions
- Identify and implement digital tool solutions that align with our Smart Factory initiative
Qualifications:
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Student pursuing a degree in the following:
- Industrial Technology
- Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
- Mechanical Engineering
- Motivated self-starter, who able to work in parallel on multiple projects
- Work with minimal supervision
- Attention to accuracy and details
- Great communication skills to align and collaborate with all functions throughout the design center
- Experience with AutoCAD Creo (ProE) or Solidworks and Microsoft Office
- Be able to work on site for 40 hours a week for 3-6 months
- Must be located in the cedar rapids location or willing to relocate for the role
