Job Summary
The Assistant Caretaker position requires flexibility to travel as needed between properties in Sharon and
Lakeville, CT as well as Wingdale NY and will assist the Caretaker with the overall upkeep and
maintenance of these properties. This candidate is enthusiastic, willing and able to jump in where needed
or required, to ensure the needs of each property are met. The ability to work collaboratively as a team is
also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the upkeep of the property including, but not limited to:
- Grounds, between landscapers visits and in preparation for events
- Buildings - mechanicals, fireplaces, garbages & compost
- Pool, Hot Tub and Play equipment
- Garden Beds - Seedlings, plantings, harvesting
- Wood processing & stacking
- Maple syrup production
- Seasonal removal - Leaves, Snow
- Assisting in regular daily checks throughout buildings. This includes:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- HVAC
- A/V equipment
- Appliances
- Assisting with the upkeep/detailing of vehicles, pontoon boats & mini camper
- Assisting in organization/maintaining of equipment, inventory & stocking
- Assist in setup and breakdown, as needed, for special events
- General maintenance & small carpentry needs Required Skills/Abilities
- 5 + years of groundskeeping/landscaping/caretaking with general knowledge of plumbing/electrical
- Handy with light carpentry
- Organized and punctual, communication a must
- Comfortable working with text, emails and online calendars (preferred team communication method)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility in scheduling/hours as needed for special gatherings and events
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid Driver’s License & Reliable vehicle
Location
This position is based in Sharon CT with ability to also travel as needed to Lakeville CT (7 miles) and possibly Wingdale NY (19 miles)
