Supporting the Common Ground Program Director, the Assistant Director will provide logistical support, thought leadership, and collaboration in carrying out the program vision, strategic direction, and individual events. The Assistant Director will also help create and lead a student fellows program.

Designed to explore cross-boundary political thought and complex social issues, Common Ground brings highly respected thought leaders to the Hamilton campus to participate in small classroom dialogues and large event discussions. Topics intertwined with the College’s curriculum are chosen to foster critical thinking and holistic examination of difficult and often contentious national and global policy issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and monitoring schedule of upcoming speakers using spreadsheets and other appropriate technology tools
  • Developing and finalizing contracts with speakers
  • Proactively promoting events through email, website, local broadcast and newspapers in coordination with Communications
  • Attending events and addressing logistical items as needed
  • Developing, organizing and supervising Common Ground Student Assistant program
  • Managing the budget
  • Conducting follow up meetings with faculty
  • Assisting with researching and recruiting speakers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Actively participate in building our diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus community.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Experience in event planning and management preferred. Demonstrated interest in current affairs and experience in an educational environment is helpful. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google platforms
