Job Summary:

The Assistant Financial Controller is responsible for implementing a diverse set of accounting related functions, including but not limited to the month-end close process, G/L reconciliations, audits, and serves as a liaison between departments. The Assistant Controller also serves as a technical resource to team members on in-depth knowledge of procedures and complex issues. The Assistant Financial Controller trains and monitors the performance of direct reports, ensuring the staff's goals are aligned with the strategic direction of Woodruff-Sawyer and the accounting practice.


What You'll Do:


Corporate Accounting

  • Supervise 2 direct reports
  • Lead the monthly and year-end close process
  • Hands on support and proper delegation of transactional work (monthly JEs, reconciliations, flux analysis) while maintaining the proper level of review and quality
  • Perform and supervise the maintenance of all balance sheet reconciliations to ensure timely, accurate and complete asset and liability records
  • Assist with management reporting as required
  • Day-to-day accounting oversight and control
  • Supervise the of vendor payables and expense process using Concur
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff for their growth and development and to create a scalable department to support the organization
  • Documentation of and continuous improvement of current processes and procedures
  • Coordinate Annual and Quarterly Continuous Financial Audit

Payroll

  • Dotted line working relationship with the Payroll Manager
  • Provide first-level review of payroll batches
  • Maintain payroll reporting, flux analysis and accounting entries
  • Maintain employee allocations

Tax and Compliance

  • Oversee all tax and required reporting/filings (Income, Payroll, Property, Business Registration, etc.)

ESOP & 401(K)

  • Administer and coordinate required ESOP functions
  • Lead ESOP and 401(K) communications
  • Coordinate ESOP and 401(K) Audit
  • Establish and verify accuracy of reporting for contributions and match

Company Communication & Impact

  • Collaborate with other departments: FP&A, Revenue, People Team and Operations to streamline workflow systems to drive overall efficiency, as well as, protect accounting quality and timeliness
  • Lead knowledge share in accounting systems and functions

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
  • 4-6 years of accounting experience
  • Ensures strict adherence to all internal controls
  • Thorough understanding of accrual-based accounting and accounting concepts required for the role in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements
  • Strong accountability and meticulous detail in preparing accurate and timely work product with limited input/rework required by manager, including clear supporting data/schedules
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills, including timely follow up as needed
  • Experience being able to effectively delegate responsibilities and maintain consistency and quality of work product
  • Proper prioritization and time management are necessary
  • Complete ownership of job responsibilities
  • Strong initiative, able to effectively manage role and responsibilities without heavy oversight or input from manager or leadership
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • ERP experience (NetSuite preferred)
  • Concur experience preferred, but not required

More About Us:

Compensation: Anticipated salary between $95,040.00 – $152,297.00. Salary offered will be dependent upon geography, experience, and expertise of the candidate.

This position is eligible to participate in an incentive program to earn additional compensation with a target equivalent to 12% of salary annually, based on individual and Company performance.
