The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a 10-week, temporary, 20-hour per week position as assistant grant coordinator for the School of Media & Communication within the College of Arts and Sciences to begin summer 2023, with specific dates to be determined. Applications are welcome from those with skills in written and oral communication, customer service, math, and administrative organizational software such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
The successful candidate will serve as a primary contact for the administration of a foundation grant.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary administrative contact for partner agencies and groups and the School of Media & Communication.
- Serve as the point of contact for graduate students and other researchers examining the Mississippi region involved in the grant.
- Conduct interviews and/or engage in primary research as directed by the school director.
- Arrange visits, interviews or meetings in the targeted as requested by the school director.
- Maintain thorough and complete records of all expenses associated with the grant, working with the school’s finance administrator to ensure compliance with all university and foundation requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Customer service skills, such as telephone and email etiquette
- Ability to effectively communicate in corporate, non-profit, university and community settings.
