About the Role:
Under general supervision of the Branch Operations Manager and in conformance with established policies, procedures and the goals and mission of the bank, the Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for the professional and confidential handling of all aspects of Teller and Account Specialist duties in a courteous and professional manner. The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Branch Operations Manager, as requested, with the coordination of Teller and Account Specialist daily activities and duties using discretion and independent judgment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Operations Manager in managing daily banking operations and resources.
  • Monitor and improve operational efficiency, productivity and customer service.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to develop and implement strategies to achieve operational goals.
  • Perform Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual reports.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff to ensure quality service and compliance with bank procedures.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in meetings and provide reports on operational activities.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to all internal and external customers, exhibiting professional phone and customer relations skills, maintaining a high level of information security while supporting the goals and mission of the bank.
  • Assist Operations Manager with scheduling, time keeping, check/deposit approvals, answering questions for staff and/or customers and help with coordination of department duties; research teller capture and WIP GL, complete and approve CTRs and forward to Security Officer for final approval.
  • In absence of Operations Manager supervising and monitoring the day-to-day operations and scheduling of the department to ensure prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers, assign and review work of staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of work. Research and resolve work related issues.
  • Accurately handle all aspects of teller duties to include but not limited to DDA, savings account transactions, cash handling/balancing, sale of gift and travel cards, loan payments and redemption of Savings Bonds.
  • Actively participate in the High-Performance Growth (HPG) program including Branch HPG displays, Big Days, and Tell a Friend program.
  • Serve as back up for Operations Manager, Tellers, Vault or Account Specialists as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance, leadership & supervision for Tellers, Vault, and Account Specialists.
  • Effectively sell and cross sell the services and accounts offered by the Bank. Be able to maintain a pleasant, helpful demeanor toward customers and personnel.
  • Be familiar with and periodically review the bank’s robbery recovery and security procedures.
  • Perform duties as related to the imaging system and processing of work as required.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.
  • Regular and predictable attendance to accomplish job duties and provide in-person contact with customers.

About You:
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1 year of experience in banking/credit union operations or a related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience accurately handling and balancing cash transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and banking software.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
  • Exhibits professional customer service skills and friendly attitude. Ability to address customer concerns in a professional manner.
  • Must be detail oriented. Able to perform repetitive work with consistency and accuracy. Able to find and correct errors.
  • Ability to complete job responsibilities with a minimum of supervision and to exercise a reasonable amount of independent judgment consistent with the position, ability to exercise sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow bank and department policies as they relate to the teller and operations department, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer technology to complete job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: The employee is constantly required to stand and walk. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
