The University of Louisville (UofL) Kornhauser Health Sciences Library (KHSL) invites applications from creative and self-motivated candidates for an entry level position of Hospital Liaison Librarian, providing information and research support to the students, staff, researchers, teaching faculty, and practicing clinicians of the University of Louisville (UofL) Rowntree Medical Library and approved contracted services for the UofL Health System. This is a 12-month, term faculty position, renewable annually with full benefits.�

Primary Responsibilities:
Both initial rank and salary for this annually renewable 12-month term position are dependent on experience and qualifications of the successful candidate; the anticipated initial rank is Instructor or Assistant Professor, with a minimum salary for Instructor starting at $46,000/year. The successful candidate will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, and an annual vacation of 22 working days. To support the scholarship, service, and other achievements necessary for promotion, the University Libraries offers a mentorship program, extensive professional development opportunities, and funding for conferences and continuing education.�

Primary Responsibilities:
- Build collaborative relationships within clinical departments and UofL Health entities to support information literacy and evidence-based practice.
- Under supervision of the Hospital Library Manager, maintain the space, services, and operations of Rowntree Medical Library and provide information support for the UofL Health System
- Promote library resources, services, and education to users in their own environments.
- Provide timely, evidence-based information support as requested using current technology and resources.
- Keep affiliated groups and library users informed of developments with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices for information in health sciences.
- Coordinate with nursing leadership and other hospital units to deliver educational programs for clinical personnel.
- Provide proactive, high-quality customer service to library users, including activities such as in-depth reference consultations, online search training, & assistance with accessing resources.
- Practice inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility within librarianship, teaching, research, scholarly communications, and professional development.
- Provide regular reference support and occasional backup coverage at KHSL service desks.
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent in library or information science by the time of hire. Candidates with an advanced degree in biomedical, nursing, health education, or other relevant discipline by the time of hire, with demonstrated interest and/or expertise in health sciences librarianship, will also be considered.
- Knowledge of biomedical and evidence-based practice literature, research, and tools
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship building skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to think and react quickly, including evidence of initiative, creativity, and flexibility with planning and problem-solving.
- Ability to use current technologies and learn new trends for delivering library services.
- Ability to work effectively in a leadership role, as part of a team, and independently
- Flexibility in providing librarian service support during non-traditional work hours.
- Willingness to travel locally between facilities in the UofL Health System
- Experience working with users in their environments, as opposed to the traditional library setting.
- Experience working within the clinical or academic health sciences environment.
- Experience in a hospital or health sciences library
- Experience using EndNote or other citation management software.
- Experience using LibGuides and/or other SpringShare products.
- Additional graduate degree or certification in a related discipline
- Potential to meet scholarly activity and service expectations for promotion.
