POSITION SUMMARY
HMS Media is seeking an assistant editor with excellent organizational and communication skills to assist senior editors as part of an arts and entertainment creative production team. Reporting directly to the
Senior Editor, this key role will also partner closely with all team members and departments to apply a skillful blend of creative and technical editorial capabilities to assigned HMS Media client projects. They will also be responsible for tailoring content that speaks directly to HMS Media audiences across all platforms.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties will include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Assist with asset management and edit preparation. o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee the procurement of creative assets, ensuring the teams are provided with what they need for their corresponding projects. o Collaborate on planning and producing content that extends our audience reach and engagement. o Prep and edit material (e.g., raw footage, b-roll, clips, etc).
  • Responsible for importing and exporting the content of varying formats.
  • Work with multi-cam edits of both short- and long-form content.
  • Edit existing video and digital content to high standards with understanding of pacing, graphics, audio mix, color grading, and overall consistency between all final deliverables.
  • Follow specific post-production guidelines and aspect ratio templates to meet video production standards for TV, social media, etc.
  • Works independently to perform a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from management.
  • Communicate effectively with senior staff while working collaboratively with co-workers to meet and/or exceed the quality and creativity of our projects within the deadline given.
  • Copy and organize HMS-captured video and audio media, as well as incoming client media assets.
  • Use an automated, online workflow system to manage jobs; follow technical post-production workflows as established.
  • Troubleshoot daily issues as they arise and escalate to senior staff when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and 1-2 years of production-oriented work experience required; Bachelor's in a related field preferred.
  • A strong desire to increase their post-production skills, while being open to professional critique.
  • A desire to learn and be mentored under the tutelage of senior staff to increase post-production skills.
  • Graphics prep for show titles and credit rolls using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Avid Media Composer preferred, or similar editing software required.
  • Able to work collaboratively as well as independently in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly experienced in file management.
  • Occasional travel as needed.
  • Occasional overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be comfortable working with minimum supervision.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
