Summary of Duties:

The Associate Director of IT Services position within the Carson College of Business (CCB) has a dual role as the manager for CCB Office of Technology system administration and helpdesk staff, in addition to performing advanced technical work throughout the area.

As a manager of assigned staff, this position is responsible for ensuring that system administration and helpdesk staff are properly supervised using proven leadership and advanced IT skill sets. The person in this position will direct staff in their respective job functions, as well as providing constructive feedback and assisting with ongoing professional development of assigned staff. In the Director's absence, this position will serve as the representative of the system administration and helpdesk section.

Additionally, this position works closely with ITS (Information Technology Services) Enterprise Infrastructure Services, ITS Information Security Services, and ITS Enterprise Systems Group to ensure that all cybersecurity and development mandates are met in a timely fashion to provide our customers with the tools required to meet their missions as well as maintain the highest level security posture possible.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years professional experience, with (3) years in supervisory or managing role. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Experience in using internal communication systems to organize and update content for information consumers. (Particularly Intranet)
  • Experience leading and/or supervising staff.
  • Experience working with cloud vendors and solutions such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Zoom Video Conferencing solutions, Project/Tasks management tools (ex. Wrike, JIRA, Kanban).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic problem-solving environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Windows Server systems administration.
  • Experience providing professional, polite customer service to clients and partners with a wide spectrum of needs and experience.
  • Enterprise-level experience and working knowledge in administering the following production servers/services: Windows Server 2012/2012r2/2016/2019; Windows PowerShell and Windows command scripts; Active Directory; Certificate Services; Microsoft SQL Server; IIS; Virtual Machines with Hyper-Vl; Network configuration; Firewall security; Server Backup Strategies; and Help Desk/Service Desk Support (Supervisory Role).



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Higher Education or non-profit environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems administration.
  • Enterprise level experience and working knowledge in administering the following production servers/services: System Center (or equivalent systems management software); SharePoint Products and Technologies; and Microsoft Clustering and HA solutions.

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
