Associate Medical Director Primary Care Operations Job at Southeast Permanente Medical Group
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic leader, Associate Medical Director, Primary Care Operations (AMD, Primary Care Operations) who will be responsible for strategy development and daily clinical operations of Primary Care services including Adult Primary Care, Family Practice, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Weight Management and Urgent Care. Provides oversight and clinical team supervision for KP’s Advanced Care Centers (ACC), as well as directing the region’s urgent care strategy. Collaborates closely with other Operational AMDs to ensure integration of services across primary and specialty care, ensuring the right care, at the right place, at the right time. Further ensures members have easy access to high-quality, evidence-based medicine is provided by The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (TSPMG). Collaborates with leaders and staff of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) and TSPMG to execute on the Georgia region’s mission, vision, and care model strategy.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
1. Provides strategic leadership direction in the shaping and execution of the service line strategy for Primary Care departments
a) Identifies opportunities for service line expansions through technology or care offerings that improve quality and efficiency.
b) Develops the operational and geographic service delivery plan for primary care throughout the region
c) Leads and oversees the physician leaders and professional staff, tasked with realizing the strategic and operational vision for TSPMG.
d) Collaborates with the Health Plan on facility hours and days of operation, which support patient demand and clinical requirements.
e) Sets direction and oversees facility service planning (e.g., exam room allocation, provider office assignments, facility remodels, service line expansions).
2. Provides day-to-day leadership and management for all primary care services delivered in the region.
a) Establishes a leadership/management structure to facilitate smooth, efficient, and effective medical center operations on a day-to-day basis including performance management.
b) Provides oversight and direction to KP’s owned and operated Advanced Care Centers (ACC), as well as directing the region’s urgent care strategy.
c) Works to create and maintain professional satisfaction among the Chiefs of Service and front-line clinicians to enable them to deliver high quality cost-effective care to patients and retain best talent.
3. Ensures appointment access and geographic access for members ensuring high quality of care and an excellent member care experience.
4. Oversees talent acquisition and retention within all departments with the goal of developing a world class multi-specialty medical group.
a) Develops and supports leadership programs which provide clinicians necessary skills and tools to continually learn and grow.
b) Directly supervises Chiefs of Service, provides coaching and mentoring which enable Chiefs to lead their departments in an efficient, effective and member focused manner.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Medical Physician
- 2 years or more leadership experience
- Excellent MAPPS scores (current TSPMG physicians)
- Embraces and models all tenets of “The Permanente Person”
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Executive leadership training
- 5 years or more experience with TSPMG or any Permanente Medical Group
- Executive leadership experience
- Shareholder or Partner Status with a Permanente Medical Group
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:
- Active Georgia Medical license
- Board Certification in specialty
