Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a Software Engineer to generate and update software on the Air Traffic Control Voice Switching System and Equipment. This is a large complex communications system vital to air traffic operations and safety. The position interfaces with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as multiple functional areas including Test, Configuration Management, Software and Hardware Engineering. The position is the point of contact to provide technical expertise on software design and modifications. Successful team members will be working to help support the global aviation community with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for software coding and analysis on telecommunications systems.
• Code design and integration on related system upgrades and enhancements.
• Create technical software documents and artifacts when developing technical solutions.
• Conduct presentations and interface with the FAA customer to provide technical expertise.
• Act as the team subject matter expert in software design.
• Review and interpret existing software designs and update software documentation.
• 10% short-term travel may be required.
• Minimal shift work may be required.

Qualifications:

• Requires broad theoretical job knowledge. Bachelor’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to acquire FAA public trust clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience with C/C++, C#, Python, Java or other similar programming languages.
• Knowledge of Object Oriented Design and Analysis, and familiar with Windows development
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, etc.
• Exposure to Visual Studio or comparable IDE
• Exposure to Software Development Life Cycle process on complex systems
• Must have good presentation and customer interfacing skills
• Must have excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
• Must possess strong technical writing skills
• Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities
