This position is eligible for a hybrid Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) (on-campus and remote work). FWAs are subject to supervisor approval and may shift due to changes in business needs.
Purpose
Administer athletic sports, both individual and team, as assigned on behalf of the University Interscholastic League, an organization that conducts and sanctions interscholastic competitions in the State of Texas.
Responsibilities
- Program administration of assigned UIL sports, both individual and team, and assist with program administration of other unassigned sports. Provide communication and information regarding athletic related eligibility and policy questions. Administer and enforce eligibility rules of UIL.
- Serve as liaison to UIL member schools and athletic and officials associations. Present at in-services regarding UIL rules and information. Assign officials when schools disagree. Work with UIL committees and stakeholders to obtain feedback on current challenges/issues within assigned sport and develop appropriate rule changes or modifications.
- Create, edit and review sport specific manuals and develop appropriate curriculum for Coaches Certification Program. Assist with general UIL athletic correspondence. Review and audit Previous Athletic Participation Forms.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by UIL Director of Athletics. Represent UIL on national committees. Travel in and out of state to represent UIL at athletic events, conferences, and competitions.
- Work weekends and holidays to attend athletic events, UIL functions and athletic Associations meetings. Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree. At least five years of coaching experience and/or administration at a UIL member school. Thorough knowledge of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules. Thorough knowledge of state law regarding interscholastic competitions and student eligibility rules for extracurricular activities. Experience administering and coordinating athletic events. Experience with diverse student populations. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Professional demeanor.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree. Demonstrated experience as an athletic administrator. Knowledge and/or practical experience as a coach of both an individual sport and team sport. Current involvement in a UIL member school as head coach or athletic administrator. Understanding of UIL District Executive Committee processes. Experience working at UIL member high schools of various sizes representing different UIL conferences.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
