POSITION OVERVIEW
AVP, Capital Management will join the Statutory Accounting and Reporting Team, and will report to the VP of Statutory Accounting and Reporting. The role will oversee the Capital and Bermuda functions which builds of stat accounting and addresses a broad array of capital management activities, including NAIC capital forecasting, coordination of capital movements between companies, completing quarterly reporting for 4-5 Bermuda entities, and supporting material reinsurance and investment transactions. The role will have 1-2 direct reports to support Capital Management and Bermuda Reporting.
During 2023, the company will transition its internal capital reporting framework from the historical Risk Based Capital framework to the newly adopted Group Capital Calculation framework, which is a combination of Risk Based Capital and BSCR Bermuda Capital. The AVP of Capital Management will be instrumental in communicating and executing that change.
Candidates must be collaborative, interacting with various departments and levels of management. The role is a mix between developing and delivering standard quarterly deliverables, and being responsive to strategic ad hoc requests. Specific role responsibilities include:
- Oversee, guide, coach and review two staff, responsible for Capital Management and Bermuda Reporting.
- Capital Management:
- Prepare an entity level RBC estimate each quarter as well as applicable pro forma views
- Complete an A-to-E analysis quarterly on stat capital, by entity
- Coordinate cross-functional group to propose and execute intercompany capital movements
- Obtain finance committee approvals for capital moves and instruct treasury and legal to execute steps
- Complete quarterly Group Capital Calculation for the enterprise
- Bermuda Reporting
- Prepare quarterly management financial and capital materials for 4-5 Bermuda companies
- Respond to Bermuda management analysis requests
- Support Material Transactions and Implementations:
- Complete capital sections of reinsurance deal memos
- Assess and critically review capital impact of proposed transactions
- Quarterly analysis
- Present quarterly capital analysis to midlevel and senior management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to work with complex concepts and to communicate them clearly
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in accounting, planning and capital in a life insurance company
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions from research and report on findings
- Strong communication skills, work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability
Global Atlantic's base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. The annual base salary range provided in this posting for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic's total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives. The base salary range for this role is $99,000 to $190,000.
