Chalkboard Wings & BBQ is an independently owned restaurant in Mount Vernon. Serving the areas best wings, burgers, and BBQ in a relaxed fun atmosphere. We're growing quickly with many popup and events on our schedule, and additional locations in the future.

Chalkboard Wings & BBQ is hiring a bartender apprentice to work during our busiers shifts on Thursday-Saturday. In just one year we have already established ourselves as the go-to neighborhood bar with many of our customers coming from within a 1-3 mile radius, and won the accolade of Best Wings in Alexandria by readers of Zebra Press Magazine.

• Food Menu - Wings, Burgers, BBQ
• Beer - 12 beers on draft and another 20 in can and bottle. Craft beer knowledge is a plus, but we're willing to train. No macro beers on draft.
• Cocktails - Easy to make 2-3 pour cocktails using primarily local spirits.
• Whiskey - 45+ top shelf whiskeys and growing
• Atmosphere - Family friendly and a lot of local support. We're the only independently owned American restaurant with a bar within an 8 mile radius. We're also located less than a mile from Fort Belvoir with a 22,000 person population.
• Hours - 11:30am-10pm weekdays, and 12am weekends. Hours will begin to be expanded as the weather gets nicer.

We're looking for a bartender apprentice to assist our bartenders during our busier times. In addition the bartender apprentice would be responsible with handling takeout orders. Duties include greeting customers upon arrival, delivering menus and waters to tables, clearing tables and putting dirty dishes through the dishwasher, restocking the bar regularly over the course of the night, taking and completing to-go orders, and generally supporting the rest of the staff. While this is an entry position, we hope that this person will grow into a full bartending position.

Chalkboard Wings & BBQ has a growing schedule of popup events and catering events. Staff will have the opportunity to also work these events at higher hourly rates based upon performance.

We're located in South Alexandria between Mount Vernon and Fort Belvoir along the Route 1 Corridor

Job Requirements

• Must be 21+ as you are serving alcohol
• Must be able to lift 50lbs+ a few times a day
• Weekend Availability is a must, don't apply if you can't work most weekends
• Verify identification and age requirements of customers
• Process payment from customers
• Clean glasses and bar utensils
• Keep bar fully stocked on all necessary supplies
• Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
• Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift
• Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
