  • JOB SUMMARY
      Behavioral Health Technicians are part of a care team responsible for behavioral health patients. The responsibilities of this position is to observe patients for behaviors and activity that indicates the patient may not be safe, to evaluate environment for patient safety, to interact with the patients to change defined behaviors and to provide safe activities. The Behavioral Health Technician keeps constant observation of any Title 25 patient or other patient who needs close observation. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors the patient, alerts assigned clinical staff and security to certain high risk behaviors, assists in procedures such as checking the patient environment, belongings, and providing care such as food, fluid, ambulation, etc. The Behavioral Health Technician will have competency to carry out some care functions such as vital signs, linen changes, bathing observation, and phone call monitoring. The Behavioral Health Technician documents in the electronic medical record safety checks and patient observed behaviors. The Behavioral Health Technician may cross train to other job duties as assigned when behavioral patients aren’t present. This positions reports to the Director of Medical/Surgical/ICU.
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS
      Education:
        High School diploma or GED. May have educational preparation as a mental health specialist, certified nursing assistant or patient safety monitor.

      Job Knowledge and Skills:
        The Behavior Health Technician performs duties with minimal supervision. Reports patient status and patient behavioral changes to the assigned clinical staff. Must have MOAB training.
