The Behavior Monitor (BM) works in our In-Home Behavioral Services (IHBS) program, providing families with support and implementing interventions established by a Master’s level therapist to address a child’s developmental and behavioral needs. This is a family driven treatment, emphasizing family voice and choice. The BM works as part of a team and receives guidance from the IHBS therapist to implement behavior modification plans with children ages 3-20. The BM works towards improving the family’s quality of life, communication, and household stability. By traveling to the home at least once per week, the BM works intensively with the caregiver(s) and child on establishing structure and rules, developing independent living skills, teaching self-regulation and self-soothing, as well as other behavioral interventions. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the position, but additional responsibilities may be required. Essential Functions
Interventions/Behavior Treatment
- Develop positive connection and rapport with the child and family
- Provide coaching/modeling for caregiver(s) using evidence-based practices and guidance from the IHBS therapist
- Give feedback to the IHBS therapist about what parts of treatment are working vs. need adjustment
- Implement behavior modification strategies with children
Documentation
- Timely completion of written clinical progress notes
- Documentation of child observations in the school, home, and community environments
- Provide data to the IHBS therapist for analysis of patterns of improvement
- Assist in creation of safety/risk plans as needed during times of crisis
Collateral Contact
- Work as part of system of care team and attend regular team meetings to discuss treatment progress
- Consistent communication with collaterals to obtain new clinical information and provide treatment progress updates
- Observe child initially and periodically in school setting, and attend school meetings as needed
- Collaboration with other treatment providers and/or Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) team as needed
Other duties
- Attend weekly individual supervision and clinical team meetings, as well as assigned trainings
- Local travel to client homes and other community settings daily
- Transporting child and/or family to meetings as needed
- Must be 18 years old
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field from and accredited university, with one year of clinical experience working with youth and families in the mental health field
OR
- Associate's degree in a human, social, or educational services discipline, and a minimum of two years of clinical experience working with youth and families who require behavior management
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle, and be willing to travel within the Metro Boston Region up to 75% of the time
