Behavioral Health Clinician Milwaukee County Mental Health Clinic Full Time, First Shift Hourly Rate: $24.71 – 37.30 SIGN ON BONUS $7,500 Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Clinician will be responsible for assessment of client’s treatment needs and providing outpatient therapeutic services to address identified issues. Duties also include consistent assessment of risk of harm to self, depression, anxiety, or other behavioral health concerns. Ability to engage with parent(s) or caregivers of youth as clinically indicated is of paramount importance as is a passion and understanding of the needs of the community.
A high level of clinical skills, independent decision making, ability to work under pressure and comfort in a team environment is imperative. Those served by this clinic may be facing a range of behavioral health concerns, as well as potentially life changing, crisis situations, and as such the behavioral health clinician is required to be able to develop rapport, assess the client’s individual mental health needs thoroughly, and as needed, in consultation with their supervisor and clinical team. In addition, the ability to provide treatment recommendations regarding crisis management, stabilizing in times of crisis and ability to connect individual and their significant others to community-based resources are a key part of this role’s success. Milwaukee County Mental Health Clinic (MCMHC) is a community-based, outpatient clinic that provides psychotherapy services to youth and young adults, with medication management as clinically indicated.
In addition, it provides medication management and psychotherapy to youth and young adults enrolled in Wraparound Milwaukee or Youth Comprehensive Community Services (CCS). The multidisciplinary team consists of child psychiatry, a licensed psychologist, nurse prescribers, a master’s level intern and a dedicated team of management and administrative leadership. The MCMHC BHC position consists of the following job responsibilities: • Assessment and evaluation of counseling needs, development of treatment plans and goals, treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, or other clinical issues as needed. • Remain sensitive to understanding the complexities of cultural and language needs of the MCMHC clients and their families.
Minimum Requirements for all positions: • This position requires you to have completed the vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of a completed vaccination as a condition of employment or submit a completed medical or religious exemption and accommodation request form. • Authorized to work in the United States; Wisconsin residency within six (6) months of hire date. • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable insured vehicle; both maintained throughout employment. - Assess clients to determine fit for outpatient treatment and establish provisional diagnosis and initial treatment plan. • Conduct individual, and/or family therapy, when clinically indicated, in accordance with state regulations and professional licensure law(s) in Wisconsin. • Counseling clients regarding psychological or emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, child development, family challenges, grief and loss, etc. • If necessary, provide cross intervention services to clients to ensure risk levels are properly managed and, when appropriate, triage to higher level of care.
- Maintain collateral contact with client’s referring physician/professional, teachers, parents, as well as any other pertinent treatment providers, to ensure optimum level of care. • Maintaining appropriate records and adhering to ethical practice. • Participate in consultation or supervision in accordance with licensure law(s) • Participate in the multidisciplinary team and seeks opportunities to learn and develop clinical skills. - Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or in a closely related field required. • Valid WISCONSIN State licensure, free of limitations, OR able to provide proof of passed licensure exam is REQUIRED in one of the following: Advanced Practice Social Workers (APSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or (LPC-IT) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or (LMFT-IT) • Please note: If only providing proof of passed licensure exam, the license must be produced within 5 months of hire. • At least three (3) or more years of recent practical work experience in either an outpatient, inpatient, or crisis behavioral services role • Able and willing to travel, within community, up to 5% of work time as determined by clinical and administrative duties of the job. • Able to lift/pull up to 25lbs as needed.
