Body Shop Estimator - Essential Duties

• Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage.
• Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
• Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop manager or foreman.
• In the event of a disagreement with manager or foreman on repair cost, arranges to have damage appraised by another appraiser to resolve the situation.
• Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors.
• Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
• Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes or customizing undamaged vehicles.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Body Shop Estimator - Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from, clients, customers and the general public.

Body Shop Estimator - Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Body Shop Estimator - Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
