As the Bottling Safety Manager at E. & J. Gallo, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the Modesto Bottling operations. Your leadership and technical expertise are essential in planning, developing, implementing, and executing safety and management programs/procedures to mitigate any potential risks and hazards. You are a driving force behind the development of direct reports, empowering them to support the management efforts of safety policies and protocols. What You Will Do
Safety
- Manages the implementation of consistent and thorough safety systems and training programs in all areas of Modesto operations; develops and facilitates implementation of programs/procedures for facility leadership to identify, evaluate and control safety and health hazards.
- Participates in the investigation of root causes of significant injury, illness, and near-miss incidents and develops detailed reports.
- Drives plant safety compliance focused to minimize risks and adhere to regulatory laws and standards.
- Participates in a proactive approach to enhance Modesto Bottling safety systems and elevate safety performance.
- Audits workplace and work in progress to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Creates and publishes all KPI's related to EHS that impact Modesto Operations.
- Analyzes gaps to KPI's and drives continuous improvement in KPI's for EHS.
- Ensures accurate and timely response to accidents and incidents.
- Functions as a point of contact for issues regarding environmental, health and safety for operations and maintenance for Modesto Bottling.
- Supports the direction of the safety leadership and implements policy and procedure.
- Conducts facility assessments to identify hazards/risks and evaluates program effectiveness.
- Oversees maintenance of OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
- Conducts case management on a local level to ensure proper care for injured employees while protecting Company and employee interests.
- Conducts and coordinates safety related communication and training programs to educate facility employees in principles, practices and regulations on occupational safety and health protection.
- Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
Leadership and development
- Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
- Rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of production/operation experience implementing and executing manufacturing health and safety programs which reflects increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of production/operation experience implementing and executing manufacturing health and safety programs which reflects increasing levels of responsibility.
- Working knowledge of general industry safety and health standards (Fed-OSHA, Cal-OSHA), PSM and VPP. Familiarity with EPA, NFPA, ANSI and other regulatory/advisory agencies.
- Knowledge of procedures and practices of occupational Safety and Health and Hazardous Materials management systems.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management plus 8 years of production/operation experience implementing and executing manufacturing health and safety programs which reflects increasing levels of responsibility.
- “Certified Safety Professional” (CSP).
- Safety, Health, Hazardous Materials, Fire or related certifications.
- Skilled in the use of MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
- Experience developing and conducting effective training programs and delivering formal presentations.
Compensation:
- Hiring Salary Range Posted: $87,000 - $130,600
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
