The role of Branch Manager will be to support the Mans solid reputation of providing excellent customer service through managing personnel, sales, and product. Organize, plan, direct, guide and follow up on all aspects of a lumber and building material retail location. This position is responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the retail store, staff, products, and processes.

The Branch Manager is responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability and minimizing expenses while ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised, and that each customer has exceptional experience.

Essential Duties

  • Continually strive to set Mans Lumber apart from other companies.
  • Maintain an aggressive approach towards sales growth through our main channels; contractor, retail, and installed sales.
  • Manage staff to prospect for new sales and customers while remaining highly attentive to the ongoing needs of the existing customer base. Continue to cultivate meaningful relationship by engaging in both the community and industry networks.
  • Develop an engaged team that is committed to personal growth, continuous improvement, and exceptionally high standards to constantly exceed customer’s expectations.
  • Take ownership of the retail store by developing a deep knowledge of all functional roles, filling in where and when needed.
  • Proactive react to any customer service issue and ensure resolution occurs satisfactorily with the customer and as cost effectively as possible.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for providing a safe workplace for employees including facility maintenance and repair issues. Ensure the security of cash, inventory, and other assets.
  • Strive to uphold a positive image as a company and community representative.
  • Manage store maintenance and cleaning; keep retail sales floor properly merchandised by implementing directives such as key assortments, seasonal items, promotional displays, and end caps.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Mans Lumber's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Analyzes branch financial data to reduce expenses, control payroll, accounts receivable and payable, increase inventory turn, grow sales and maximize profit.
  • Implement yearly business plan and budget using monthly updates from corporate reports to monitor overall division performance. Review monthly sales registers. Review projections and results with upper management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred, but not required
  • Innovative problem solving
  • Ability to train others
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Previous knowledge and experience in the building materials industry is a strong plus
  • Previous experience in a sales/customer service environment
  • Ability to understand the construction practices
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work activities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate to a wide variety of people
  • Familiarity with managing a P&L
