Job Description

Cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Jersey City Medical Center objectives. Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs. Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request. Cleans housekeeping closet and maintains par levels. Collects and transport all waste, including RMW, according to policy. Compacts Trash or places in containers. Damp buffs and shampoo carpets with approved equipment. Dry and wet mops floors of rooms and offices. Dust mops and wet mops corridor, stairwells and other common areas. Empties waste receptacles and removes trash. Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when needed. Observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures. Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods. Performs patient discharge cleaning using 9-step cleaning procedure. Refills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensers. Returns promptly from errands, breaks, meals. Scrubs and burnishes floors with approved equipment. Transport bulk trash from designated collection points to compactor area. Uses and prepares solutions according to procedure. Vacuums carpets. Cleans and maintains the integrity of the medication rooms. Patient Ready Room: All patient rooms must be Patient ready at all times. Tent card must be in every patient room. Toilet seat band must be on every toilet. Privacy curtains must be in every patient room. Bedtracking system: Employee must take a bed tracking pager at the start of shift. Employee must log in at the start of shift and log out at the end of shift. All bed requests for cleaning must be process through the bed tracking system with your user ID #.

Additional Requirements

Hospital housekeeping preferred. Successful completion of general and department specific orientation.
