What You'll Be Doing
Wake County Public Libraries is seeking a Business Analyst
to help shape policy and provide project management for the library system!
The Business Analyst reports directly to the Deputy Library Director and provides broad support for WCPL’s library experience, business practices and operations.
More specifically, the position responsibilities include:
Project Management (25%): This position works with Library Administration to provide project management, leadership and support to system special initiatives, surveys and the library’s tactical plan. In each of these initiatives the position takes a lead on timeline, communication, budget, outside partnerships and administrative oversight.
Data & Statistical Analysis (25%): The Business Analyst creates and manages spreadsheets and presents data on performance to library groups including Library Commission, County & CS Administration, Library Administration including the SLM’s, Library Managers and staff. This position proposes, creates and maintains statistics and models. The position conducts staffing and timing studies; and analyzes data & statistics.
Policy Development and Maintenance (25%): Policy in WCPL is generally created through the office of the Business Analyst. The analyst will research, draft and recommend policy solutions/ guidance on library and management issues. This includes reviewing and recommending improved business practices and identifying best practices. The position interprets the implementation of County and Library policy, serving as a general resource for library leadership and staff members.
Grants and Awards Administration (25%): This position identifies, evaluates and prepares grant and award applications. The Business Analyst navigates the grant application through the approval process providing additional documentation and information as necessary. Once approved, this position administers the grant including on-going reporting and evaluation, staff and public awareness and training if required. For awards, in addition to preparing and submitting award applications, the Business Analyst coordinates award acceptance, awareness, and impact.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree
Two years of job-related experience
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Master's degree in Public Administration or Library and Information Science; Public Library experience; local government experience

Ability to shift priorities, work independently and with teams, anticipate needs and identify gaps within the organization
Ability to communicate information in a variety of formats (ex. verbal, written, presentation) and a variety of settings (ex. with individuals, small groups and large groups)
Possesses an expertise in Excel skills beyond the basics to include: tables, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas (index/match, etc) and macros
Ability to vet, introduce and integrate innovative management, business and library ideas into best practices
