Cowen Construction, a fourth-generation Oklahoma Construction Company established in 1896, is recruiting for a Business Development Manager for the Oklahoma City market.

The Business Development Manager’s primary objective is driving new business by identifying the right opportunities and building long-term relations with the right prospects. This role will develop and sustain relationships with key clients while managing opportunities that keep Cowen competitive in the marketplace.

Role Description

Initiate meetings with prospective clients that include key operations and leadership personnel when appropriate. Develop and execute follow-up strategies for each prospect

Assist in the maintenance, development, and enhancement of the company’s relationship with subcontractors in our bid market to produce a strategic partnership. Relay relationship information to the project teams

Expected to function independently, adapting plans and priorities as needed. Make decisions, and guide managers regularly, consulting with senior management as needed.

Attends and participates in appropriate business and social organizations to grow our name brand exposure and increase overall knowledge of our company and its culture

Creates and manages project proformas to assist in analyzing project feasibility and maximizing potential profit.

Maintains good subcontractor relationships by ensuring fairness, good communication, and follow up

In charge of the organization and presentation of RFPs and RFQs and in-person interviews.

Assists estimating in deciding which projects to pursue with oversight from the President and CEO.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree

Proven Business Development success in Construction or similar industry, Minimum Experience 6-10 years

Solid communication skills

Results-driven, with the ability to effectively manage and follow up on multiple priorities

Computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Ability to work with construction management software
