Job Description


Use your strengths as a Health Services Business Implementation Manager at Wellmark:

About the Role: Utilizing your project management expertise and strong organizational skills, you will lead the implementation of Health Services initiatives and process improvement efforts to meet short and long-term division and enterprise-wide goals to effectively impact total cost of care strategies. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and document process changes, communicate changes, and ensure projects are completed on-time and within scope.

You are an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, and thrive when it comes to positively influencing and collaborating with others to get the work done. You enjoy a work environment that is continuously evolving and are excited by the idea of working on new projects over time. Health-care related project management experience is a plus!

We currently have one (1) open position and are flexible to hiring in Des Moines, IA; Cedar Rapids, IA; or Sioux Falls, SD.


Qualifications


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical and/or managed care setting with knowledge of health and care management functions. Prior health insurance industry experience. Initiative, project, or program implementation experience (e.g., scoping, defining business needs and solutions, evaluation of options, mapping new business process, etc.) with demonstrated success independently managing complex projects.
  • Demonstrates ownership and commitment to work assignments; drives tasks and milestones toward successful completion, and holds themselves accountable for successful performance.
  • Strong business intuition and natural curiosity with ability to independently distill and review data/information/trends and develop and communicate actionable insights in order to support business decisions.
  • Critical thinking and analytic skills that enable the ability to assess available information and data, identify business observations and questions, and clearly communicate the key findings to others succinctly and clearly.
  • Advanced organizational and process improvement skills in order to facilitate and manage the implementation of program improvements by working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to succinctly document work results/findings and final recommendations. Includes the ability to define key metrics to measure initiative success.
  • Proven skills in building relationships and influencing people across the organization to break down barriers and foster collaboration. Effective consultation skills with the ability to provide recommendations, influence others to action, and solicit collaboration.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task priorities. Ability to prioritize initiatives, align appropriate resources, and motivate teams in order to achieve success. Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Travel required up to 5 percent.

Additional Information


a. Lead the implementation of key Health Services initiatives and/or process improvements that are identified by and include direction provided by Health Services leadership team that support the member experience and engagement strategy. This will be done in close collaboration with the Health Services teams and SME's as well as other key stakeholders.

b. Identify subject matter experts (SME) and key business resources for business workflow/process impacts across the department, division, and enterprise on projects to support changes to processes, systems, applications, data and integrations.

c. Develop and coordinate the successful execution of a detailed business project plan that will support the achievement of large and/ or complex department, division and enterprise wide project objectives as the lead business resource for successful adoption and validation of people, process and technology changes impacting Health Services.

d. Collaborate with Health Services leaders and stakeholders to verify scope of changes impacting Health Services is comprehensive, documented, understood, and adhered to during the execution of projects and initiatives.

e. Hold stakeholder teams accountable and drive tasks to completion according to defined project timelines; anticipate, recognize, and solve for risks and issues; understand dependencies; and report complete and accurate status for all Health Services business readiness scope items.

f. Facilitate and ensure comprehensive analysis is conducted on complex project related problems and open decisions, determining solutions and best practice to resolve issues. Collaborate with project team members to document problems/issues, possible solutions, and pros/cons to support HS leader decision making. Identify, monitor, and communicate critical business metrics to ensure project execution success.

g. Collaborate with Health Services leadership and staff to ensure successful transition of business readiness tasks and milestones including training, user acceptance testing (UAT) planning as needed. Partner with impacted enterprise stakeholders execute needed business readiness activities including training and communication in alignment with the delivery dates for the project/initiative.

h. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand industry trends, new innovative care programs/service offerings in the market, key competitor care offerings, industry consultant recommendations, and services being offered by other Blues plans. Summarize and share these findings with Health Services leadership.

i. Utilize Health Services operational procedures and documentation standards to achieve stated results of assigned project.

j. Comply with regulatory standards, accreditation standards and internal guidelines, remain current and consistent with the standard pertinent to assigned Care Innovation initiatives.

k. Other duties as assigned.
