Job Title: Buyer
Reports to: Procurement Manager
Job Summary: The Buyer is responsible for arranging the purchase of goods the company requires.
Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and purchase product to meet customer demand and maintain required par levels
- Process purchase orders for goods and follow up with suppliers
- Establish new item codes with reference to manufacturer specification sheets
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate for best pricing
- Ensure stock levels are kept at appropriate thresholds
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
- Analyze market conditions and trends and apply this information to make insightful buying decisions
- Coordinate with procurement manager, operations, and sales as needed
- Proactively communicate with sales and operations of any purchasing problems, product issues, or shortages and provide status updates on product’s expected availability
- Secure samples, specification sheets, nutrition information, etc., as requested
- Publish inventory reports and make recommendations for upper management on inventory improvement opportunities
- Anticipate possible supply shortages depending on unpredictable variables and devise strategies to solve problems with inventory supply
- Assist procurement manager with a variety of purchasing activities
- Communicate with procurement manager and sales to gather insights on pricing, customer buying preferences, and issues that should be addressed with the supply chain
Qualifications
- Buying experience preferred
- Associate or undergraduate degree preferred
- Proficient in computer software systems including Outlook, MS Office and Excel
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
- Analyze information, problem solve and make decisions
- Strong attention to detail
This is a Full-Time, Monday thru Friday in-office position from 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
Compensation (salary) is negotiable, depending on capabilities, strengths, experience and background.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
