Summary: Performs retail selling and clerical work. Receives and displays merchandise. Trains and directs retail clerks in ordering, receiving, sales, inventory, cash control, and customer service functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trains and directs retail clerks in policies and procedures.
- Receives and checks in merchandise
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
- Set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
- Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.
- Obtain merchandise requested by customer or receive merchandise selected by customer.
- Total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill.
- Accept payment and make change. Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
- Remove and record amount of cash in register at end of shift.
- Calculate sales discount to determine price.
- Keep record of sales, prepare inventory of stock, and order merchandise.
- Keep the showroom clean and orderly.
- Answer customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
- Handles escalated customer service concerns.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. One year of experience in retail selling, cash register operation, general clerical work and/or financial record keeping; or equivalent education/experience. More than one year customer service experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual. Ability to speak effectively with customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Qualifications: Food Handler's Permit. Previous retail or customer service experience. Must be able to work and direct others with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions.
Physical Demands: Must be able to walk and grasp frequently. Constantly reach, have near and far vision, hear, talk, smell. Occasionally sit, climb stairs, crouch/bend/stoop, push/pull, lift/carry 25 lbs. May travel for training occasionally.
Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Required to greet guests and offer all updated news and information about the hotel and other things that the guests are looking for. Work hours and schedule varies.
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
