Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Coach - Boca Raton, FL.

As a Career Coach, this role supports FAU students to become “career ready” (through advising, coaching, experiential learning, internships, etc.), while connecting them with either graduate school opportunities and /or employers that lead to securing meaningful, full-time employment.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Provide career coaching (resume, interview assistance, internship/job search, graduate school applications, deciding on a major/career) services to all FAU students and alumni virtually and in-person to all degree programs and class standings.
  • Teach and coordinate multiple sections of the SLS 1301 Career and Life Planning course for teaching first and second year students about decision-making skills, self-knowledge, options-knowledge, and metacognition.
  • Works with undergraduate students that serve as Program Development Assistants for the department.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts workshops, programs, and presentations to educate and inform students, faculty/staff and administrators about employability skills, career readiness activities, internships/co-ops and job shadowing, employment trends and insights, career opportunities for FAU students, etc.
  • Administer and interpret a variety of career assessments using career theories.
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings and reviews of intake appointments.
  • Work closely with Student Services & Engagement leadership to ensure proper promotion of career development courses, programs, resources, and services for all majors.
  • Coordinate and present career development outreach programs for students and parents at orientation including Major Knowledge and undeclared majors’ sessions for Admission events.
  • Assist with the Owls Professional Clothes Closet, which includes but not limited to, marketing the closet to students and community members.
  • Develop and implement career development programs and resources for students addressing career exploration, career action plans and career readiness. Works with employers to understand their needs and translates those to student, faculty, staff, etc.
  • Actively promote experiential learning, including co-operative education and internship programs, undergraduate research, study abroad and service learning to students.
  • Assist with the coordination of the virtual practice interview program.
  • Supports employer events, fairs, information sessions, outreach, and engagement.
  • Respond to e-mails from the career@fau.edu on various topics.
  • Attend weekly and bi-weekly meetings.
  • Participate in the Student Success Network.
  • Contribute to divisional initiatives and programs.
  • Other job-related duties as described.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Valid Driver's License Required.

$42,000 per year.
