JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Support Alternative Services Program Director, this position is responsible for the supervision, support and training needs of an adult consumer/consumers who are developmentally and/or physically challenged.

Duties include:

Supervise, feed, dress client as needed 85% of the time which include but not limited to the following:

• Assist clients in recognizing and identifying training and support needs
• Participate in future planning and other client related meetings
• Collect and summarize data on client progress towards goals
• Train/teach skills identified on ISP
• Serve as advocate for clients with public and other agencies
• Carry cell phone for client emergencies
• Occasional local travel required
• Other duties assigned by the Program Director

House cleaning and cooking 15% of the time as needed.

MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent. Experience implementing service plan for persons with disabilities. CPR and First Aid training must be completed within 30 days of hire and maintained. Proof of DOJ and FBI clearance. Certification of no history of criminal conviction as outlined in DSS Licensing Criminal Record Statement (LIC508). Staff who works directly with clients must be at least 18 years of age and those required to drive should be 21. Must have a car, maintain a California driver’s license and provide on-going proof of current state required auto insurance. Health Screen and TB clearance are required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

Familiarity with the principles of normalization and the developmental model. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Ability to relate effectively with general community.
