Founded in 1988, Stop Child Abuse Now of Northern Virginia (SCAN) is a regional child abuse prevention nonprofit that strives to prevent and decrease child abuse in all settings, through the implementation of prevention programs, advocacy, and public education. SCAN is located in Alexandria, VA.


SCAN works with children, families, and organizations to decrease harm to children and increase support for families, organizations, and the community surrounding vulnerable children. SCAN serves Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County, Falls Church, Loudoun County, and Prince William County.


SCAN’s work includes:

  • direct child advocacy through local court systems
  • working with families of vulnerable children
  • creating safe environments in youth-serving organizations
  • public education and advocacy

SCAN currently has a staff of 13, plus hundreds of volunteers and contractors who serve SCAN every day. SCAN has an extensive network of child protection and related organizations. SCAN is poised for growth and impact as it works to achieve its visionary 2023-2028 strategic plan. SCAN has healthy reserves and an annual operating budget of approximately $1.7 million.


Summary of Position

SCAN is seeking a CASA Case Supervisor to join our team. SCAN's Court Appointed Advocate (CASA) Program supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and have the opportunity to thrive. The Case Supervisor guides volunteers to ensure court-involved children receive sound advocacy. The ideal candidate has experience in child abuse prevention, the child welfare system, social work, or adjacent fields. The Case Supervisor is collaborative, exemplifies cultural humility, is detail-oriented, and is comfortable working with sensitive subject material. The successful candidate has a strong interest in promoting and furthering child protection. This position is a full-time non-exempt permanent position that oversees ~20 volunteers and reports to the CASA Program Manager. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is: $50,000-55,000 annually


Location and Remote
Working

Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekend hours. Working in the office, at home, virtual environments, community, courts, and classroom conditions. This position requires attending the Fall or Spring 40-hour pre-serving training series for CASA volunteers as part of the onboarding process (classes are twice weekly in the evening). This position requires reliable transportation.
