Position Overview:
The Category Manager is an integral part of the procurement team. The initial goal will be to gain a solid knowledge of the team’s supply base, company, and procurement processes, and understanding of the roles and personnel of associated work groups inside Navistar.
As Category Manager you will be a member of a Category Management Team (CMT), which provides the opportunity to work cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with the product development, program management, quality, manufacturing, risk management, finance, logistics, aftermarket parts, product pricing, supply chain and more.
As Category Manager for Aftermarket (Filtration & Petrochemicals), you will be responsible for managing an estimated spend of ~$300M.
Demonstrating solid performance in this role will position you well for advancement into jobs of higher responsibility within Navistar Procurement. Responsibilities:

- Influencing internal and external stakeholders in the development and execution of strategy
- Cross functional collaboration
- Management of Cost Reduction projects
- Leading strategic sourcing activities for new programs and transfer business
- Supplier contract negotiations and administration
- Supplier performance management
- Working closely with the Best Cost Country Sourcing Team on projects and developing strategies for tail spend suppliers to effectively consolidate the supply base

Bachelor’s degree

At least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience
OR
- At least 7 years of purchasing/procurement experience

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
- Analytical mindset and skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills, written, verbal and presentation
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate and work well with others
- Attention to detail with ability to manage many items at one time effectively
- Experience in a large, multi-functional company
- Purchasing, engineering, manufacturing or quality experience
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and key cost drivers
- Ability to read & understand prints and technical specifications is a plus
